the implications of this are also fun, because if his blood turns to soulfire first and we see molten cracks on Danix’s skin before he transforms it suggests that his insides turn soulfire mode first before converting (or perhaps just burning away) his outer shell. it makes sense in the context- blood is already spilling out of the open wound and he is turning into his soulfire form. I think instead it’s blood beginning the process of turning into soulfire. first of all, he was most likely hit by the hard shell of the creature (specifically the claws) and I don’t think any of the creature’s molten core would have splashed out to hit his eye. I personally think the ¨magma¨ in Danix’s eye is not magma at all. So if he didn’t murder his friends during the second transformation, he almost certainly didn’t the first time the obsidian ghouls were the threat in this situation, and so Dainix tried to destroy the threat and no one else. He stopped in recognition of a friend when Kendal intervened, and he didn’t hurt anyone during the hour-long trek to the ruins. We’ve already seen that some vestige of his consciousness remains when he’s transformed, as indicated by the fact that he only went after the possessed Erin on the battlefield The Void Dragon was the threat in that situation, and so Dainix tried to destroy the threat and no one else. Okay, this is actually a good thing, because it finally removed a lingering worry from my mind Dainix most likely did not murder anyone while berserk. And it’s looking quite certain that there’s no fire rune innately present anywhere on Dainix to mirror Alinua’s life rune birthmark, proving that no active influence gave Dainix this power, meaning Fire and, by extension, the other four non-Life self-sacrificed primordials, are well and truly dead Life’s circumstances are unique. I’m still thinking there’s a chance that the first transformation permanently changed the scar to leave some tiny indication of what lies beneath, especially considering that the socket is where the soulfire first erupted from but it’s also possible that the scar is just cauterized, with no hint of soulfire peeking through. Judging by the box text, Red was kind of sick of us theorists repeatedly anticipating getting to see Dainix’s right eye, and I think I know why it seems that it had always been a normal eye his whole life.
